Thurston tipped the hot, dark tea to his lips and sipped in the savory elixir as he looked out of the lead paned window of his converted factory laboratory. His personal air-ship Intrepid Dawn would be leaving this afternoon on its way to the southern ice frontier. The crew was seasoned, loyal, and prepared. The stocks were loaded on board and the weather was favorable for departure. Still.. something ate at his gut even though the tea came as some relief.
Tomorrow would be Crown Day in London and he had never missed the event. Since he was a child he would go to the Towers of London with his mother and enjoy the festivities. Alas, he was older now but some part of him yearned still for that simpler time. Though he was pulled to stay, his heart was torn. Bess had disappeared more than two months ago. Her return was far overdue. She was his true love and her airship had not been heard from since a brief, broken cyto-transmission week ago. He held the tela-script from that last wire in his hands now...
"Start Electoprint3432: "This is Bess R___ posting position southern reaches ocean Britani___ - BREAK - "Storm overtook airshi___ and seeking cover on western expanse__ slope of Mt Greystoke___ BREAK - " some Bleakskin signs__ danger in ___ seeking protection ___ BREAK"
That was all that was received. He had read it a hundred times. With the clues it contained he would depart on this mission. Opening the drawer of his hammered copper desk he withdrew his trusty Fenbolt revolver and holster buckling it around his waist as he had done a thousand times - as had his father before him. He inspected the crystal tipped bullets as he slid them into the hoops in the belt. Forbid that he would need to use them for he knew that it was only the crystal from Arcadia Island that would stop the Bleakskins if they were encountered in the frontier.
With luck and with courage, they would be together again. They must... be together again! - The Travels of Thurston Von Hamilton
Bring filtered or freshly drawn cold water to a rolling boil. Place 1 slightly heaping teaspoon of loose tea for each 7-9oz / 200-260ml of fluid volume in the teapot. Pour the boiling water into the teapot. Cover and let steep for 3-7 minutes according to taste (the longer the steeping time the stronger the tea).
Place 6 slightly heaping teaspoons of loose tea or 6 tea bags into a teapot or heat resistant pitcher. Using filtered or freshly drawn cold water, boil and pour 1¼ cups/315ml over the tea. Steep for 5 minutes. Quarter fill a serving pitcher with cold water. Pour the tea into your serving pitcher straining the tea or removing the bags. Add ice and top-up the pitcher with cold water. Garnish and sweeten to taste. A rule of thumb when preparing fresh brewed iced tea is to increase the strength of hot tea since it will be poured over ice and diluted with cold water. (Note: Some luxury quality teas may turn cloudy when poured over ice. This is a sign of luxury quality and nothing to worry about.)
I just received my order the other day and I made my first cup today. I have to say, out of all the different tea brands that I have tried over the years, from Bigelow or Harney and Sons, and this is my new favorite.
For an English Breakfast Tea, it was a lot smoother than I was expecting. When I get a new Tea brand, I always taste it before adding sweetener and it was definitely good without anything. I would put the taste at almost a Darjeeling without a harsh lingering earthy tone.
Now, I like my tea strong as well, since it's a replacement for coffee at times, and this was definitely a strong tea. Normally I would do something like an Irish Breakfast tea for more caffeine, but I let this steep a little more than 3 mins and I was good to go.
If I was to have something negative to say about it, It would have to be that the bags don't have a string like other brands. But that is a minor thing compared to having a really good cup of tea.
Well Done Geek Grind for making an awesome product. I tip my hat to you all.
I love my Geek Grind coffee to be sure. However, I sometimes yearn for a good cup of tea. That resulted in brewing a cup of London Fog Breaker English Breakfast tea recently. Don't tell the coffee guys because I'm still drinking it. The tea is a masterful blend of teas from far, far away that yield a wonderful flavorful tea. I like the tea bags, too. I easily get two rich Geek Grind mugs of tea from one bag. It's a great brew!
Solid black tea.
