Choosing your coffee

Should I choose whole bean or ground?

Choose whole bean if you have a grinder and want to adjust the grind for your brewer. Choose ground if you want to skip grinding. Select the format on the product page before adding it to your cart.

Need a particular grind for your machine? Email ask@geekgrindcoffee.com with the coffee and brewer you use before ordering.

Which roast should I try first?

Start with the flavors you enjoy. Wizard’s Mist is a light roast with fruit and caramel notes. Dragon’s Roast is a dark roast with roasted-nut and dark-chocolate notes.

Read the description for the exact coffee and format you’re choosing. A familiar name can appear across bags, pods and samples.

What size are the coffee bags?

Our bagged-coffee options include 12 oz and 4 lb sizes. The size selector on each product page shows the choices for that coffee. Build-A-Box full-size coffee bags are 12 oz; the whole-bean and ground sample boxes contain 2.5 oz sample bags.

Check the selected size and format in your cart before checkout.

Are tasting notes the same as added flavors?

Tasting notes describe what a coffee reminds you of. For Dragon’s Roast, roasted-nut and dark-chocolate notes come from the coffee and roast; they are not added flavor ingredients.

Other products are sold as flavored coffees. Read the description for the exact product, and ask us about ingredients rather than relying on its name or tasting notes.

Where can I check ingredients and allergens?

Check the ingredient information on the product and its packaging. If you have an allergy or need ingredient details that aren’t listed, contact ask@geekgrindcoffee.com with the exact product and format before buying.

Tasting notes and product names are not an allergen statement. For example, our Hoard of the Dragon hot chocolate listing states that it contains dairy.

Pods & Build-A-Box

How do I choose coffees for my box?

Start with Build a Box. Choose K-Cups, 12 oz whole bean, 12 oz ground coffee, whole bean samples or ground samples.

Select your box size and a one-time purchase or available subscription option, then choose the coffees for your box. The chooser shows the current prices and delivery options.

Can I combine different coffee formats?

Each Build a Box selection uses one coffee format: K-Cups, 12 oz whole bean, 12 oz ground coffee, whole bean samples or ground samples. Choose your format before selecting your coffees.

For a custom box combining different formats, email ask@geekgrindcoffee.com with the selection you have in mind before ordering.

How can I explore a tasting selection?

Build a tasting selection with whole bean samples or ground samples. Each sample bag is 2.5 oz.

Choose your sample-box size, then pick the coffees you want to compare. Start with a familiar favorite and add a different roast or flavor to explore.

What should I do if the box builder won’t load?

Email ask@geekgrindcoffee.com with the box format you’re trying to build and what you see on screen. A screenshot and your browser or device type can help us understand the problem.

If you placed an order already, include the order number. Please don’t email passwords or payment-card details.

Brewing & storage

Which grind works with my brewing method?

As a general starting point, use a medium grind for drip or pour-over, a coarse grind for French press or cold brew, and a fine grind for espresso. Follow your brewer’s instructions and adjust to taste.

Choosing whole bean lets you control the grind. If you’re buying pre-ground coffee for a specific brewer, check the product details or ask us before ordering.

How much coffee should I use?

For a regular drip brewer, the National Coffee Association suggests starting with 1–2 tablespoons of ground coffee per 6 fluid ounces of water. Adjust for your taste and follow your brewer’s instructions.

A machine’s “cup” mark may be smaller than your mug. Espresso, cold brew and other methods need their own recipes.

How should I store my coffee?

Keep coffee in an airtight, opaque container in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight and heat. If you buy whole bean, grind only what you need just before brewing.

Follow any storage and best-by information on the package. How long coffee keeps its flavor depends on its format, packaging and storage.

Orders & shipping

When will my order ship?

Our shipping policy lists 3–5 business days to dispatch in-stock coffee orders. We ship Monday through Friday. Carrier transit time is additional, so this is not an arrival-date guarantee.

Accessories, apparel and mugs have production timelines of their own and may need extra time. See the shipping policy for details.

How do I track my order?

Tracking is sent to the email address used for your order. Look for the shipping email and follow its tracking link.

If you can’t find it or need help with a delivery, email ask@geekgrindcoffee.com with your order number and the email address you used at checkout.

What is your return policy?

Our return policy covers a 30-day period. Refund requests are subject to the policy’s review and approval process. Read the full return and refund policy, then contact ask@geekgrindcoffee.com about your order before sending anything back.

What if something arrives damaged or is missing?

Contact ask@geekgrindcoffee.com with your order number and a description of the problem. Photos of the item and packaging can help explain damage.

The refund policy provides for same-item exchanges when an item is defective or damaged. We’ll review the details of your order with you.

Can I change an order or shipping address?

Email ask@geekgrindcoffee.com as soon as you spot a problem. Include your order number and the change you need.

We’ll need to check the order’s status before confirming whether a change can be made.

Where can I check shipping costs and offers?

Review the shipping options and charges shown at checkout before paying. If you’re using a shipping offer, check its stated conditions and make sure the discount appears in your order total.

For help with a destination or shipping offer, contact ask@geekgrindcoffee.com before placing the order.

Subscriptions & gifts

How do I get help with my subscription?

Email ask@geekgrindcoffee.com using the email address associated with your subscription. Tell us whether you need help with an upcoming delivery, your coffee selection or your account.

If an account or subscription link isn’t working, include the page and what happens when you try it. Don’t send your password or payment-card details.

Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes. Geek Grind email gift certificates let the recipient choose their own coffee. Pick from the amounts shown on the product page and review the delivery details before checkout.

The certificate’s unique code is redeemed at checkout.

What should I choose for a coffee gift?

First find out how they brew. Whole bean is a good choice for someone with a grinder; ground coffee skips that step. Choose an individual coffee and check its sizes and formats on the product page.

If you’re unsure of their brewer or taste, a gift certificate lets them choose.

Who can help with bulk, wholesale or group gifts?

Email ask@geekgrindcoffee.com with the products, approximate quantity and date you have in mind. We can help you find the right next step for your request.

For larger bags for your own brewing, check the 4 lb option on the individual coffee’s product page.
